Out of School Time (OST) Literacy Differentiation Pilot
Supported by the William Penn Foundation
Project led by:
Lori Severino, EdD
K-12 students spend roughly 80% of their time outside of school. The purpose of this project is to find ways to embed or strengthen literacy programming outside of school so students can receive individualized support to strengthen their literacy skills. Drexel will lead the way in training out of school time (OST) coaches using evidence-based practices for differentiating instruction at various sites across Philadelphia. The training and the materials developed will be implemented at 5 select pilot sites. Coaching visits from literacy experts will ensure evidence-based practices are being implemented with fidelity, helping the organizations create high-quality literacy programming in the OST environment. If successful, the program will be expanded to serve many more OST programs.
