What We Do
Prepare, Guide, and Empower
The Steinbright team is composed of faculty and professional staff specializing in career-focused services, providing a wealth of experience and knowledgeable assistance for Drexel students, alumni, and employer partners. Steinbright provides this pathway to personal and professional success through three specialties: cooperative education, career services, and employer connections.
Experiential learning is an integral part of a Drexel education, highlighted by our renowned cooperative education program. Going on co-op allows students to work side-by-side with the leaders and visionaries of their field and empowers Drexel Dragons to meet the challenges of an ever-changing world. Each co-op experience provides a unique employment experience and the opportunity to explore a potential career. And students returns to class, they will find their experience will not only enhance their classroom learning, but they are now equipped to serve as a valuable resource to other students around them, able to share real-world insights that can’t be found in any textbook.
Our co-op curriculum professors teach COOP 101, a 10-week course designed to prepare students for co-op and to develop career planning and job search skills, as part of their regular class schedule. Successful completion of COOP 101 is required for participation in the Drexel Co-op program and students are automatically registered for the course in the term most appropriate for their designated co-op experience. Our COOP 101 faculty discuss the following topics throughout the course: identification of career goals, résumé writing, effective job search strategies, interview skills, contemporary workplace issues, and professional communication.
Our co-op advisors are paired with Drexel students and Drexel Co-op employers to ensure that their co-op experience is positive and successful. Students are assigned to their co-op advisor at the end of the summer prior to starting at Drexel, and meet with their co-op advisor before applying for co-op positions. During one-on-one meetings, co-op advisors help students assess co-op and career goals, develop job search strategies, communicate effectively with employers, and understand co-op policies. Co-op advisors maintain constant contact with students and employers throughout the co-op experience.
Our Career Services team provides students with the tools, knowledge, and guidance necessary to develop their interests and goals throughout their time at Drexel.
Through our dedicated team of career counselors, students can utilize one-on-one guidance and counseling sessions to ensure they are on the path to achieving their educational and career goals. These sessions offer personalized attention to clarify interests regarding majors and career choices. Our First-Year Career Counselor seeks to engage students in professional development at the beginning of their collegiate career. During their time at Drexel, students can meet with our full team of counselors for career and educational counseling and personality assessments for guidance toward a career path. As students prepare to graduate, we offer specific services for seniors and recent alumni to develop search job search strategies to land the perfect position.
The pre-health advising program is designed to help students with course selection, career information, and the application process for the health professions. Our pre-health advisor can advise students pursuing a variety of careers including medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, pharmacy, and many allied health professions.
Our pre-law advisor provides in-depth information about law school admissions and financial aid. Through one-on-one advising sessions, group presentations, law school visits, recruiting events and other activities, our goal is to ensure that Drexel's students and alumni have access to relevant and accurate information about the law school admissions process.
An important aspect of our work is connecting students to a constantly growing network of employers and industry leaders across the globe through our co-op program and vast base of alumni.
Employer Relations Coordinators
Our employer relations team is the initial point of contact for new co-op and full-time employers. The team assists employers in hiring co-op students, new graduates, and alumni.
