Integrated Design Research, Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing (iDream)

Integrated Design Research, Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing (iDream) is a research institute formed to lead innovation and fuel economic expansion in advanced manufacturing of functional fabrics. Funded by Advanced Functional Fabrics of America (AFFOA), an initiative of The U.S. Department of Defense, iDream aims to become a world class transdisciplinary research center for advanced manufacturing of functional fabrics, as well as to Partner with industry to address the grand challenges of digital fabrication, modeling, design and rapid prototyping for the creation of a new industry: textiles that see, hear, emit and transmit.

Drexel joins MIT, the University of Central Florida and Cornell University as cornerstones of AFFOA group, which includes 31 academic institutions, including The University of Texas, The Ohio State University, the University of Michigan and the University of California – Davis. Drexel will serve as the anchor for partners in the mid-Atlantic region, linking institutions such as Carnegie Mellon, Penn State, Temple University, … to manufacturing partners
