Leadership Program Evaluation
Since the inception of our first leadership development program for academic women in 1995, program evaluation has been integral to improving curriculum content and instructional methods. Our evaluation and research efforts have also led to a better understanding of leadership and advancement into leadership roles, particularly for women in academic medicine and science. The Hedwig van Ameringen Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine® (ELAM®) and the Executive Leadership in Academic Technology, Engineering and Science (ELATES at Drexel®) are designed around a common theoretical framework that incorporates program evaluation and research questions including:
- How does formal leadership training advance participant skills, confidence, and organizational knowledge?
- Do the aspirations, opportunities for institutional contribution, and leadership roles of senior academic women change as a result of intensive leadership training and, if so, how?
- What types of projects and mentoring actions result in career advancement?
- What types of projects and mentoring actions result in the advancement of institutional initiatives?
