Philadelphia Higher Education Assessment Leaders
The Philadelphia Higher Education Assessment Leaders (PHEAL) group was formed by Drexel University in 2014 in order to provide a forum for assessment practitioners in Philadelphia-area institutions to share best practices, offer presentations, invite guest speakers, and engage in topical discussions of mutual interest and currency. Additionally, PHEAL offers assessment professionals a platform with which to engage in advocacy activities on issues that impact the profession.
Program Alignment & Review
The Office of the Provost is committed to an ongoing, comprehensive plan to continuously and formally review programs and the overall structure and alignment of instruction and research at Drexel, ensuring relevance, quality, and measurable achievement. This process is being overseen by the Program Alignment and Review (PAR) Committee, appointed by the Provost.
Annual Drexel Assessment Conference
Drexel University will again be host to what will now be our Third Annual Conference on Assessment. Entitled “Academic Quality: Driving Assessment and Accreditation”. This conference will build on the tremendous success of the last two year’s events which together brought over 865 higher education faculty and administrators from throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, the nation (27 states represented) and abroad (4 foreign countries) as we restate our commitment to academic quality, and acknowledge that the quality of the student academic experience must be the driver behind all assessment and accreditation activities.
The Assessment Fellows program will exponentially assist in the spread of the importance of assessment of teaching and learning which will lead to continuous improvement within courses and programs. The fellows will be instructing, networking and mentoring other faculty members thus placing the responsibility squarely where it should be which is in the hands of the content experts.
The Office of Assessment, Accreditation and Effectiveness is offering 14 workshops this year on topics ranging from Developing or Refining Course Level Outcomes to Direct Assessment of Program Level Outcomes and Course Level Outcomes. These workshop offerings are available upon demand to all programs/departments, schools and colleges. They will be scheduled upon request.
