Joseph M. Hawk

Executive Director of Assessment and Accreditation
Institutional Research, Assessment and Accreditation

As Executive Director of Assessment and Accreditation, Joseph Hawk helps to facilitate the assessment of teaching and learning by supporting faculty and staff within Drexel’s colleges and schools. Hawk is the co-chair of the annual Drexel Conference on the Assessment of Teaching and Learning, which brings together 400+ staff and faculty to network and discuss effective practices.

Another critical role for Hawk is the facilitation of the Periodic Alignment and Review (PAR) process, which is a vehicle for every program to conduct a comprehensive and reflective evaluation. Each evaluation leads to the creation of a self-study, which is then reviewed both internally and by external representatives from peer/aspirant programs. As the Accreditation Liaison Officer, Hawk is the co-chair of the Middle States 2022 team, which is creating a thorough review of the University to create a comprehensive self-study. The self-study is in preparation for a Middle States site visit in the spring of 2022. Hawk also supports the colleges and schools' 30+ programmatic accreditors, who specialize in the peer evaluation of specific programs.
