Backing a New Kind of Legal Education

When you believe in a mission, it's important to stand behind it. A $50 million donor did just that at Drexel's law school last September.
Top Philadelphia trial lawyer Thomas R. Kline made the largest gift in Drexel's history, and students and faculty celebrated the naming of the Thomas R. Kline School of Law. Kline's support secured the school's financial foundation, and advanced its leadership in trial advocacy training. Included in the gift is the historic Beneficial Saving Fund Society Building in Center City Philadelphia, which will house the Thomas R. Kline Institute of Trial Advocacy.
"We'll have the facilities to do cutting-edge work," says Founding Dean Roger Dennis. "We'll be able to add the faculty and staff to really enrich our programs in fundamental ways."
The Kline Institute will impact the entire range of the law school's activities, greatly enhancing faculty-student interaction around advocacy-based co-ops and clinical work. Drexel is one of two universities in the nation with a law school that follows the co-operative education model, integrating professional experience into the curriculum.
