Clinical training for psychology students is a critical need. So is accessible and affordable care in Philadelphia. Enter Drexel's Psychological Services Center.
Students in the psychology doctoral program who are ready for their first clinical training experience no longer have to leave campus to do it — the Psychological Services Center is located in Stratton Hall on the University City Campus.
"This lets us keep students in house early on in their training and provide a lot of oversight of their work," says Dr. Jennifer Schwartz, director of the new center. "As they progress, they get top-notch placements that they're competitive for based on their training here."
The center's benefits extend far beyond students. Its high-quality, evidenced-based treatments are offered for a sliding-scale fee to local residents. And with small clinician caseloads, clients receive more personalized attention.
"We make mental health care that is cutting-edge, top of the line, affordable to members of the community," said Schwartz.
