Students Recognized By Goldwater Foundation

June 9, 2010

Huge congratulations to Daniel Verbaro in Biology/Chemistry and to Amanda White in Physics, each of whom received the Goldwater Scholarship, and to Magda Bielinski in Electrical Engineering, who received an Honorable Mention. All three of these students are members of the Pennoni Honors College and both Amanda and Magda participated in the Honors STAR Program (Students Tackling Advanced Research).

Daniel intends to get a PhD in Physical Chemistry, researching biophysical molecules that are associated with disease states like prions, Parkinson's, and Alzheimer's.

Amanda would like to get a PhD in Astrophysics and to work as a research scientist in the areas of extragalactic astronomy and cosmology. Her goal is to find new and better ways of making observations in order to expand the scientific knowledge base.

Magda expects to pursue a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with a specialty in Telecommunications. She would like to conduct research to improve the capacity, throughput, spectral efficiency, and power consumption of wireless communications networks.

Congratulations to all three. We’re very proud of your accomplishments.
