The Honors Program organizes a variety of programs and activities each term for current Honors Program students. Students can take advantage of performance and game tickets, guest speaker events, lunch programming, workshops, tours, and other special events.

Lunch 'N' Learns

Lunch and Learn programming is generally scheduled on Wednesdays and Thursdays and is held in the Honors Seminar Room (MacAlister 5051A).

TED Talk Lunch Hours

Each term, the Honors Program offers TED Talk Lunch Hours, during which Honors Program students meet, watch a TED talk, and discuss what the ideas presented. Honors Program staff join students to help facilitate discussion, but the conversations are typically student driven. TED Talk Lunch Hours are a great way to meet other Honors Program students and discuss interesting and provocative topics.

Guest Speakers

The Honors Program hosts distinguished faculty, accomplished guests, and notable community members and organizations for events each term. While the background and work areas of these guests vary, we ask they give a short talk to our students followed by discussion. Past events include “The Role of Entrepreneurship” with Dr. Milt Silver, “How to Distinguish Fake News from Fact-Based Journalism” with journalist Bill Marimow, and “The Most Important Cake in America” where Professor of Law, John Culhane, discussed the Supreme Court’s role in balancing freedom of expression and freedom from discrimination.

Pizza and Politics

During Pizza and Politics sessions Honors Program-affiliated faculty and staff facilitate discussions about topics affecting the world. These conversations approach challenging, sometimes uncomfortable topics in a safe, open environment. In the past, Pizza and Politics themes have included misogyny in Hollywood, voter’s rights, and ballot issues.

The Honors Program offers workshops nearly every week during the quarter. Past topics have included completing an Honors Option Proposal, creating your “elevator pitch,” resume and cover letter writing, and professional communication.

Ticket Tuesday

The Honors Program encourages students to explore cultural events in the Philadelphia community with Ticket Tuesday. Ticket Tuesday falls on the second Tuesday of each term. The Honors Program offers tickets to musicals, orchestral performances, dance shows, sporting events, museums, and more. There's something for every Honors Program student and it's free!

Ticket sign-ups begin on Ticket Day (morning of the second Tuesday of each term). If a student cannot make Ticket Tuesday, the sign-up sheets remain in the Pennoni Honors College Main Office (5016 MacAlister Hall) where they can sign-up for available tickets or add themselves to the waitlist. The Main Office is also where students pick up tickets prior to the event as well as where students go to show proof of attendance in order to get their deposit back after the event.
