Mandela Washington Fellowship

For the second year, Drexel University welcomes twenty-four outstanding fellows each year to Philadelphia where they engage in six weeks of active Civic Leadership training. The program is sponsored by a partnership between the LeBow College of Business and the Office of International Programs. With only 27 institutions awarded grants for 2018, Drexel is proud to be the only university in Pennsylvania to be chosen for the fellowship. The 24 Fellows hosted by Drexel are part of a larger group of 700 Mandela Washington Fellows hosted across the United States this summer. These exceptional young leaders will meet at the end of their Institutes in Washington, D.C. for the fifth annual Mandela Washington Fellowship Summit, where they will take part in networking and panel discussions with each other and U.S. leaders from the public, private, and non-profit sectors. Following the Summit, 100 Fellows will participate in six weeks of professional development training at U.S. non-governmental organizations, private companies, and government agencies.

Drexel University will work closely with IREX and U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs to ensure that the fellows have academic and leadership programs that inspire and empower, as well as ample opportunities during their time here in the United States.
