Resources for Campus Guests and Volunteers
All campus guests must complete the Campus Events Accommodation Request Form [PDF] in order for auxiliary aids, accommodations and services to be provided.
Disability Resources recommends submitting individual requests as soon as possible, but at least three (3) business days prior to the event. Disability Resources considers all requests on a case-by-case basis and may request additional information from the guest in order to facilitate accommodation needs. Every effort will be made to secure accommodations in a timely fashion.
When equipment is provided to a person with a disability, Disability Resources loans this equipment on a temporary basis.
Student Organizations and Events
When students with disabilities want to participate in a particular event/activity and need auxiliary aids, accommodations or services in order to do so, students must register with Disability Resources for the receipt of accommodations. Disability Resources will make every attempt to provide accommodations, but priority will be given to those requests received at least three (3) business days prior to deadline for sign-up or from the date of the event, whichever date is earlier. As part of the request process, a Campus Events Accommodation Request Form [PDF] must be completed.
Field Trips, Meetings and Events
When auxiliary aids, accommodations and services are requested for Drexel University field trips, meetings or events, the University determines what constitutes a University-affiliated activity. Students, employees and campus guests should contact Disability Resources for more information.
Volunteer Note-taker Training
Drexel values student volunteers who serve as note-takers for other students who require note-taking assistance as an accommodation. The online note-taker training educates note-takers to understand the purpose of this service, their responsibilities as a note-taker, and strategies for providing effective notes.
The training consists of three units; each includes a brief quiz. You must complete the quiz before proceeding to the next unit. If you stop the training at any point before completion, you will have to retake all three quizzes.
After completing all three units, you will receive a link to the Note-Taker Agreement Form. Please complete this form and forward it to Disability Resources at firstname.lastname@example.org. Disability Resources will then provide you with instructions and next steps. Disability Resources will not exchange your contact information with the student receiving the notes.
