Working with Minors

As we move into the New Year, we would like to provide a friendly reminder that the spring camp and program season is fast approaching. Since these programs often involve interactions with minors, we would like to remind you to please contact Minors on Campus Coordinator Stephen Guckin in the Department of Public Safety at to register your program, activity or service involving minors and to receive additional instructions regarding required training, best practices, etc.

Your program will then be reviewed, and if individuals are required to have the PA Enhanced Background Certifications, Human Resources will be in contact with you to assist in the completion of these certifications. Please refer to the Guidelines for PA Enhanced Background Certifications (PEBC) for additional information, the full process and list of FAQs.

The Pennsylvania Child Protective Services Law (CPSL), requires institutions of higher education to obtain background checks for any individuals having direct contact or direct volunteer contact with minors. To comply with the CPSL, all Drexel faculty, professional staff members, including those affiliated with a collective bargaining unit, student workers, temporary staff, non-employee associates, finalist candidates and independent contractors who have direct contact with minors and adult volunteers who have direct volunteer contact with minors must undergo the PA Enhanced Background Certifications (PEBC). If you have any questions, please reach out to Human Resources or Public Safety directly.
