ExCITe Center to Help Community Members Navigate Technology Access Challenges of Working and Learning From Home as Part of City's Digital Literacy Initiative 

Drexel University’s Expressive and Creative Interaction Technologies (ExCITe) Center will join a network of organizations across the city to help ensure all Philadelphians have access to the devices and internet connections they need to learn and work remotely amid the coronavirus pandemic. With support from a Philadelphia Digital Literacy Alliance initiative, Drexel will be one of three partners to provide support on accessing low cost Internet options, connecting wireless devices, and providing computers to ensure access to internet service for community members in need.

Drexel and School District of Philadelphia Break Ground on Facility for K-8 Public Schools in West Philadelphia

Drexel University and The School District of Philadelphia held a ceremonial groundbreaking today for a building that will house two public schools in West Philadelphia. The School District of Philadelphia will lease the building from Drexel and the facility will house both the Samuel Powel Elementary School, currently at 36th Street and Powelton Avenue, and the Science Leadership Academy Middle School, which opened in 2016 at Drexel's Dornsife Center for Neighborhood Partnerships and recently moved into a space at 3600 Market Street.

Drexel and Partners Receive $5 Million Lenfest Foundation Grant to Accelerate Career Training for Local Residents

The Lenfest Foundation has awarded a three-year $5 million grant to University City District, the University City Science Center and Drexel University to accelerate career opportunities for local residents. The grant will benefit a partnership between the three organization that leverages University City's explosive economic growth to train and place unemployed West Philadelphia residents in family-sustaining jobs today, while equipping the community's workforce with the skills and certifications needed to connect to the jobs of the future.

Writers Room Breaks in New Campus Space with Canon Photography Partnership
 

Drexel University’s Writers Room, a College of Arts and Sciences initiative within the Dornsife Center for Neighborhood Partnerships, will introduce its first satellite location on campus this fall. Located on the first floor of MacAlister Hall, it will serve as the anchor location for a new program created in partnership with Canon Solutions America Inc. to promote literacy and life skills.
