Dental Clinic Expansion at 11th Street Health Center Fills Gap in Oral Health Care 

More than 45 percent of adults have not had a dental visit in the past year, and 27 percent of children have received no preventative dental care in the North Philadelphia neighborhood where the Stephen and Sandra Sheller 11th Street Family Health Services Center operates. A new expansion to the health center’s dental clinic will address this gap and provide the community with much-needed access to oral health services.

Drexel's 11th Street Health Center Doubles in Size with Sheller Gift to Improve and Expand Community ServiceS

A ribbon-cutting ceremony on Nov. 11 will celebrate the new, fully equipped facilities thanks to a major expansion of the Stephen and Sandra Sheller 11th Street Family Health Services Center of Drexel University’s College of Nursing and Health Professions, a community-based, nurse-managed health center in North Philadelphia, which provides a holistic approach to health care.
The kiosks will be used to screen for issues including bipolar disorder, post-traumatic disorder and depression.

Drexel Offers Free Mental Health Screenings and Demonstrations for National Depression Screening Day

This Thursday, Oct. 8 marks the 25th Annual National Depression Screening Day, held during Mental Illness Awareness Week in October. The Stephen and Sandra Sheller 11th Street Family Health Services (850 N. 11th Street, Philadelphia) of Drexel University’s College of Nursing and Health Professions will host a special, all-day event dedicated to raising awareness and screening people for depression and related mood and anxiety disorders. The event is free and open to the public.

Drexel Breaks Ground for Expansion of 11th Street Family Health Services, Renaming Building for Shellers

Drexel has broken ground for a major expansion of its nurse-managed health center in North Philadelphia. Philadelphia City Council President Darrell L. Clarke was on hand for the ceremonial event with Drexel President John A. Fry, benefactors Stephen and Sandra Sheller and others.

11th Street Health Center to Expand With Sheller Gift to Meet the Future of Primary Health Care

Drexel University will begin a major expansion of its nurse-managed health center which is nationally recognized as a model of integrated care. With a new gift of $2.5 million from the Sheller Family Foundation, the center at 850 N. 11th Street will break ground for a new wing this spring, with the expanded building to be renamed the Stephen and Sandra Sheller 11th Street Family Health Services Center.

11th Street Health Center Dedicates A Healing Home Mural in North Philadelphia

Some people may not consider painting a picture a traditional component of health care. To take that notion further, some may not consider murals an important part of a healthy community. But, despite those expectations, nearly thirty patients at 11th Street Family Health Services of Drexel University and many more members of their community have come together to help individuals be healthier and to make their communities stronger, through creating public art. They will dedicate and celebrate their artwork, entitled "A Healing Home," On October 16.

Nutrition and fitness opportunities at the 11th Street Family Health Services of Drexel University (11th Street) have never been better, thanks to a recent $100,000 contribution from the Walmart Foundation. The 11th Street community and Drexel marked their appreciation today by unveiling a special plaque dedicated to Walmart and inviting guests and patients to join a healthy cooking class.
