Drexel Partners with National Constitution Center to Create Free Webcast on the Presidency

Drexel University’s Learning Technologies Group in the School of Education worked in partnership with the National Constitution Center to create a free webcast, Constitution Hall Pass: The Presidency, in celebration of the U.S. Constitution’s milestone 225th anniversary. The webcast, the latest edition of the National Constitution Center’s Constitution Hall Pass series, will be available starting Monday, September 10, at constitutioncenter.org/constitutionday.

Drexel Professor Teaches Life Skills to Foster Youth

Thirty ninth-grade students from Arise Academy Charter High School, the only charter school for foster youth in the country, will receive individual mentoring and social skills training through a new partnership with Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Southeastern Pennsylvania. Students will also receive additional life-skills training from Dr. Chuck Williams, a professor in Drexel University’s School of Education and a 2012 Stoneleigh Fellow, who is himself a former foster youth.

New Report on Job Market for Young Grads

Even as the job market has rebounded over the last two years, the employment prospects for young college graduates have continued to deteriorate, according to a new report by Dr. Paul E. Harrington and Dr. Neeta P. Fogg, labor economists in Drexel University’s Center for Labor Market and Policy. Rather, even during this period of net job creation, young college graduates saw their employment rates fall at the same time as their mal-employment rates increased.

Drexel Celebrates 2012 Commencement

Drexel University will celebrate its 125th commencement on its University City campus with five separate ceremonies honoring Drexel’s graduating class, June 15 and16. More than 5,000 students will receive a degree from Drexel this year. Drexel will award honor 17 honorary degrees to prominent individuals distinguished in their fields.
