A Celebration of Skating

Love on the Streets, a festival celebrating skateboarding, music and the arts, which was organized by Joseph Esposito, an undergraduate in Westphal College, was mentioned in a WPVI-TV (6-ABC) segment on May 9. The festival was a fundraiser for the Franklin’s Paine Skatepark Fund, which builds community parks throughout the city.

Music Revival

Toby Seay, an associate professor in the Westphal College of Media Arts & Design, Marc Offenbach, an assistant professor in the College, and Matthew Kleinman, an undergraduate music industry student, were featured in a May 8 WPVI-TV (6-abc) story about the College’s Uncovering the Philly Groove class. In the class students are putting the finishing touches on songs from the defunct Philly Groove Record label that were originally recorded more than 40 years ago.

Neilanjan Nandi, MD, an assistant professor in the College of Medicine, was featured in a special health report on May 5 on WPVI-TV (6-abc) discussing the benefits of using a fecal matter transplant to treat C. difficile, a dangerous and potentially life threatening intestinal infection.

The event debuted four songs from the defunct Philly Groove Records label, completed by Drexel music industry students more than 40 years after they were originally recorded.

Adam Fontecchio, PhD, a professor in the College of Engineering, was mentioned in a Feb. 20 WPVI-TV (6-abc) segment about Delaware Valley Engineer’s Week. Fontecchio was named Delaware Valley Engineer of the Year at a ceremony last week.
