Heverin is an expert in cybersecurity with specialties in computer forensics and using data modeling to assess risk in networks and systems. Heverin holds one of the highest cybersecurity professional certifications — the CISSP — and has worked as a cybersecurity systems engineer and cybersecurity consultant for the U.S. Navy after serving six years as a surface warfare officer.
Heverin led the development of artificial intelligence techniques to conduct cyber risk assessments of Naval ship systems. At Drexel, he teaches courses in cybersecurity, ethical hacking, computer forensics, network forensics and cloud security. He mentors many students in cyber security, advises Drexel’s Women in Computing Society (WiCS) student organization, and participates in educational outreach to local K-12 schools.
