Cook draws on years of professional experience as an expert in construction management and a clinical teaching professor in the College of Engineering. He has also published research in the areas of project management and leadership and team building. Cook has commented in media stories about construction safety issues, building collapses and construction procedures.

He is president of R.S. Cook and Associates, Inc. - Builders and Construction Managers and a member of the Associated General Contractors of America, the American Arbitration Association, the Carpenters Company of the City and County of Philadelphia, the Consulting Constructors Council of America and the General Building Contractors Association.
