Breen leads the Geometric Biomedical Computing Group in the College of Computing & Informatics. He is an expert in geometric modeling, animation, simulation and visualization and conducts research at the intersection of biology, medicine, engineering and computer science.
He has an extensive background in modeling, simulation and analysis for biological and biomedical research, including developing a 3-D model of the fruit fly wing disc and software that visually analyzes breast cancer tumors. Breen’s group has also worked in the area of video analysis, cloth modeling and 3-D morphing, as well as bio-inspired self-organization algorithms.
