Puppy Pawlooza: Students Can De-Stress This Week By Playing With Dogs

Dog

Is studying for finals “paw”-sitively “ruff” this term? Do you want to “flea” from your “lab” reports and your dog-eared textbook pages? Are you feeling so re-“pug”-nant and sick as a dog from stress that you’re scared you’ll rot while you’re (“rottweiler”) cramming?

Don’t “terrier” self up about it. Get out of the doghouse and over to Gerri C. LeBow Hall, rooms 220 and 221, from noon to 2 p.m. on Dec. 4 for a de-stressing event that’s unlike any other Drexel has ever held. It’s Puppy Pawlooza!

Who let the dogs out? The Campus Activities Board (CAB) and Active Minds at Drexel University are bringing 10 canine cuties to campus for a special stress-free event. The dogs come from Therapy Dogs International, a volunteer organization whose “dog”-ma includes using specially trained therapy dogs to provide support to those who need it most. That’s why students will have the chance to cozy up to some cuddly pups as a way to let go of some stress.

The dogs will be arranged in a semi-circle so students can walk around and see every dog. Tables will be set up for campus organizations like the Drexel Peer Counseling Helpline, the Counseling Center, Active Minds, CAB and LeBow College of Business to hand out free doggie bags of treats and offer tips and support for coping with finals week.

Also, in case you didn’t get it: There will be puppies.

So come to Puppy Pawlooza to “setter” down and “pointer” to some cute puppies. Let sleeping dogs lie until they can help with your homework instead of eating it. You can’t teach an old dog new tricks, but thankfully Puppy Pawlooza threw you a bone by staying true to its word, you lucky dog.

Your key (“Yorkie”) to finals week is to take a “paws” from the books and take a peek in these (“Pekingese”) activities to relax and retrieve your (“retriever”) second wind. With help from Puppy Pawlooza, you can have a stress-free, dog-pun-filled finals week.
