The Fashion and Design & Merchandising programs at Drexel University’s Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts & Design will host their annual fashion show Saturday, June 2. Thirty-three senior and graduate collections from the fashion design program hit the runway at 4 and 8 p.m. at the Urban Outfitters Corporate Headquarters (5000 S. Broad St).

The show features eveningwear, women’s wear, menswear, sportswear, swimwear, children’s wear, lingerie and more. Student work is inspired by a spectrum of influences, including medieval armor, the life of Marilyn Monroe, Carnevale di Venezia, shattered glass, urban explorers, steam punk, skiwear and human anatomy. Fashion design students begin the research for their collections in the fall and spend the next seven months creating pieces that bring their vision to life. Each student illustrates and creates the patterns and final garments, often using couture techniques.

The annual fashion show highlights the works of the graduating fashion design class. Tickets are $30 for the 4 p.m. show and $50 for the 8 p.m. show and available at
.  A reception will follow the 8 p.m. show. All production aspects are handled by Design & Merchandising students including run of show, model dressing, marketing and public relations, box office administration and front of house operations.

Student collections will be eligible for awards from Neiman Marcus, Abercrombie & Fitch, Stores at King of Prussia, Carole Hochman, Evelyn Netsky, Destination Maternity, Joan Shepp, Dick Blick, John Wind and Jaeyoon Jeong.
