What: Drexel will celebrate its women’s basketball team win over James Madison to capture the first Colonial Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship title with a pep rally and watch party of the Women’s Basketball NCAA Selection Show.Who/Visuals: Students, faculty and staff will congratulate the Dragons on their win and root for victory in the NCAA. The team and coaches will be present. A band, balloons and the Drexel spirit group, the DAC PACK, will add to the festivities. The team and coaches will then head to Mikey’s American Grill and Sports Bar to view the Women’s Basketball NCAA Selection ShowWhen: Today, March 16, beginning at 4:45 p.m. The watch party and NCAA selection show at Mikey’s will begin at 6 p.m.Where: Pep rally at Drexel’s Great Court, Main Building, 32nd and Chestnut Streets Mikey’s is located directly across the street from the Main BuildingBackground: The Dragons are making their first appearance ever in the NCAA Tournament after a historic run through the CAA this season. Led by conference Player of the Year Gabriela Marginean, the top-seeded Dragons dethroned 17-time defending champion Old Dominion, snapping the Lady Monarchs’ 51-game tournament winning streak. CAA Coach of the Year Denise Dillon is in her sixth season at Drexel. She guided the team to just the second conference championship ever.
