Drexel University is making things simpler for students at seven regional community colleges to transfer to the University through a partnership with AcademyOne Inc., a web-based services provider for transfer students and institutions that serve them. Through AcademyOne’s CollegeTransfer.net prospective transfer students can view which courses from their current institution are transferable to Drexel. “Drexel University welcomes nearly 1,000 transfer students each academic year,” said Joan McDonald, senior vice president for Enrollment Management at Drexel. “Our participation in the AcademyOne network provides new and enhanced means to meet the needs of these students as they join Drexel.” CollegeTransfer.net is an online service that allows transfer students and their families to investigate and plan their options for the transition through an online match of how a course from the previous institution transfers to the prospective institution. A student enrolled at Camden County College, for example, can log on to CollegeTransfer.net and view courses offered at Camden County that will transfer to Drexel. Advisors can use CollegeTransfer.net to formulate program articulations. CollegeTransfer.net contains the course catalogs of more than 4,000 U.S. and international colleges and universities. Drexel is continually expanding its list of equivalencies with selected colleges and universities. Drexel has currently completed course equivalency listings at seven community colleges listed on Collegetransfer.net. These are: Burlington County College, Bucks County Community College, Camden County College, Community College of Philadelphia, Delaware County Community College, Gloucester County College and Montgomery County Community College. AcademyOne software allows for automated updating and inter-institutional communication between partners to maintain accuracy and currency as courses and programs change within the feeder institutions.
