Staff Grand Rounds: Let’s Move – De-stress Through Movement and Music

Friday, December 14, 2018

3:00 PM-4:30 PM

Stressful times can take a toll on the body, mind and relationships. Together we will incorporate movement, rhythm and creativity in regenerative and self-nurturing Stress-Down-Day experiences. Through didactic discussion and experiential exercises, the presenters will introduce the professions of dance/movement therapy and music therapy, and the roles they each play in health and healing.

Presenters:
Flossie Ierardi, MM, MT-BC, LPC, is the director of the Music Therapy and Counseling program at Drexel, where she teaches theoretical, skill-based and improvisational courses. She is also a freelance percussionist in the greater Philadelphia region and performs improvisationally with artist/sculptor Eiko Fan Takahira.

Christina Devereaux, PhD, LCAT, LMHC, BC-DMT, NCC, is an associate clinical professor and program director for the Dance/Movement Therapy (DMT) and Counseling program at Drexel University. She also serves on the senior faculty at Inspirees, a training program for DMT in China, and an international faculty member for Dance Therapy New Zealand. She was featured on National Public Radio, CCTV, the largest television station in China, and as a presenter for the 2014 ADTA Talks series focusing on DMT and autism.

This event is mandatory for medical assistants and open to all clinical staff. Pre-registration is required through Career Pathway.
