Medical Science Letter from the Program Director

There are many post-bacc programs to choose from across the country and here at Drexel University. It is vital that you choose the program that is right for you. So, how do you know if the Master of Science in Medical Science is right for you?

As a student in the Medical Science program, you embrace challenge as opportunity. Perhaps you need to improve upon your undergraduate record or develop a more well-rounded application portfolio, or have an interest in research. A Medical Science student embraces the opportunity to demonstrate that they are ready to succeed in medical school.

As a Medical Science student, you intuitively understand that 21st century medicine, technology and science are dynamic processes that are intimately associated with each other. The 21st century has already witnessed new and profound changes in all areas of medicine and science. It's been argued that these advances have already brought about a paradigm shift in the culture of medicine as well as patient treatment in a variety of diseases including cancer, Alzheimer's disease, transplant biology and auto-immune diseases (Niederhuber 2007). You are tech-savvy; you grasp the importance of bench-to-bedside translational research. A Medical Science student is therefore passionate about the research enterprise and envisions a career as a life-long learner that encompasses discovery.

In the Medical Science program, we FOCUS on YOUR success. As the Medical Science program director, I am passionate about providing opportunities for intelligent, dedicated women and men to achieve their dreams by providing a challenging, rich and rewarding curriculum that includes opportunities to engage in research with some of the best clinical and basic scientists working today. We not only want to prepare you to succeed in entering medical school, but to prepare you for a lifetime of success as a future clinician/researcher.
