Summer 2016, Fourth Year Medical Student

"I had the opportunity to travel to Cienfuegos, Cuba, on a people-to-people exchange for two weeks with the School of Public Health. Cuba is a beautiful, energetic and often misunderstood country with a tangible sense of community that not only transcends public life, but is in large part responsible for its successes in health care and other endeavors. The country, its people and its story offer many lessons when it comes to prioritizing wellbeing. This amazing experience not only changed the way I look at the world and my place in it, but restored my optimism in our collective ability to improve our society and ultimately change lives for the better."
