Mombasa, Kenya - The Lighthouse of Christ Hospital-Ophthalmology

I spent several weeks at The Lighthouse of Christ, a Christian missionary hospital located in Mombasa, Kenya. The Lighthouse is the only ophthalmology-only hospital in Mombasa. The work consisted primarily of assisting the staff in their free eye-clinic, checking vision and pressures, and working up the patients for the attendings. I also observed a variety of eye surgeries and assisted in the OR as needed, with supervision. It was an incredibly powerful experience and reinforced my desire to practice global health in my future practice.
