Professor Norman Stein Meets with GAO Retirement Security Advisory Panel

Professor Norman Stein joined economists and policy analysts for a meeting of the General Accounting Office Advisory Panel on Retirement Security on Nov. 30 in Washington, D.C.

One of the nation’s foremost experts on pension and employee-benefits law and a member of the advisory panel, Stein took part in the annual meeting to offer advice on issues facing U.S. retirement policy.

Along with University of Virginia economist Leora Friedberg, Brookings Institution Vice President William Gale, Penn State actuarial scientist Ron Gebhardtsbauer, World Bank consultant Estelle James and other members of the advisory panel, Stein provided feedback and guidance to the comptroller general of the GAO and administrators of the agency’s Education, Workforce and Income Security division.

Stein serves as elected secretary of both the Association of American Law Schools Section on Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation and the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel. He previously served on the Department of Labor Advisory Council on Employee Welfare and Pension Benefit Plans and was a delegate at the White House Conference on Retirement Savings.
