To provide a higher level of security for the accounts holding our personal information, Drexel uses multi-factor authentication (MFA). The first factor is something you know: your account password. The second factor is something you have: a phone or phone number that's associated with you. This is the approach required by many financial institutions.

With MFA for Office 365, you can use an app notification on your smart phone, a phone call, or text message, after correctly entering your Drexel password.

• 60-day "remember me" setting.

MFA Roll-Out Messages

Over the coming weeks, Drexel IT will distribute emails to select groups within the Drexel community regarding the roll-out of Multi-Factor Authentication. These emails might resemble common scam emails sent by phishers. If you are ever unsure, check our Debunker page for examples of the real MFA emails we've sent. You'll find examples of fake/scam emails there, too.

Caution is important, but be sure to read the real MFA emails Drexel IT sends!
