Office 365 for Faculty and Professional Staff

Why Did Drexel Choose Office 365?

Drexel chose Microsoft Office 365 because of familiarity with the Office Suite at Drexel and at the bulk of businesses. In addition, Office 365 met our Data Security requirements for our researchers' cloud storage needs. Use of an all-inclusive application suite such as Office 365 will result in a streamlined experience for our user community.

How do I sign in to Office 365?

Sign in (or go to portal.office.com) with your Drexel email address (userID in the format abc123). If you haven't installed Office 365 apps yet, you will be taken to the installation page. Self-sign up is not enabled for Drexel Faculty or Staff.

Note: Installing Office 365 apps will replace any current Office installations you have on your computer or device! If you wish to install Office 365 on a Drexel-owned device, please visit the appropriate Software Portal for PCs or for Macs.

Should I Use Office 365 or Install the Office 2016 Desktop Apps?

You may use either--Office 365 provides access to the Online apps as well as the Desktop 2016 apps.

Sign into the Office 365 Portal to access the Online apps or install Office 2016.

You may install the Desktop apps on a personally-owned machine by clicking "Install Office 2016."

You may install the Desktop apps on a Drexel-owned machine, but please do so through Software Center for Windows or Self Service for macOS.

Note: If you already have an older version of Office installed, you might be asked to uninstall it. We recommend that you do so to avoid conflicts between versions.

Can I Get Additional Office 365 Add-ons/Services (e.g. PowerBI or Visio)?

Yes, Drexel faculty and professional staff with Office 365 licenses may purchase additional add-ons or services on a per user basis for the fiscal year. Departments may also purchase Office 365 services for Non-Employee Associates (NEAs). See Office 365 Apps & Support for more information and pricing.
