Important: Student Email Moving to Office 365 on June 22

Drexel is transitioning its email service to Office 365, which offers 50 GB for message storage, better Web and mobile device support, calendar and contact integration, and improved email security. On June 22, student "" addresses will move to Office 365 Exchange, and all new messages will be sent there instead of to the old Basic Mail (aka Drexel Webmail) account.

To prepare for the move, verify that you can sign in to the Office 365 portal ( using your full Drexel username (example: and password. If you have trouble signing in, contact the IT Help Desk at 215.895.2020.

After June 22, here is how you’ll access your email

From the Web: Sign in to the Office 365 portal ( then click or tap the "Mail" tile. Note: The Mail tile won’t be visible until your address is moved on June 22. TheDrexelOne “Email” link will be removed on June 22; it will return later.

From Mobile devices: Use the built-in mail app or the Microsoft Outlook app (in your app store) to add an Office 365 account (not a POP or IMAP account). Enter your Drexel email address as your username (example:

From Computers: Outlook and Apple Mail need to be reconfigured. (While Apple Mail works, Outlook works better with Office 365, so consider switching to it.) For Thunderbird, install the Exquilla addon – the 60-day trial license is free.

Webmail Remains Through Summer for Getting Old Messages

Until mid-September, you may access your Basic Mail mailbox (the webmail service accessed from DrexelOne) to read messages already stored there. Old messages aren’t automatically copied to your new mailbox, but can be easily moved. Follow our video instructions to copy messages from your old mailbox to your new one. Forwarding to Another Email Account

Office 365 provides so much storage that forwarding is seldom needed, however, forwarding is available. Students should try out Office 365 before deciding to forward their email. (Office 365 mailboxes are not set up for forwarding, even if the corresponding Basic Mail accounts were.) If forwarding is still wanted, sign in to From the main Office 365 page, click "Settings" (it’s the icon shaped like a gear) > "Email" > "Forwarding."

Email Services for Upcoming Graduates

Students graduating in Summer 2017 will retain Office 365 email service for a while. More information specifically for graduates will be forthcoming.
