Self-Study Design

To begin the process, the Steering Committee was charged with developing a Self-Study Design that functions as an outline for the larger self-study including team members, a timeline, intended outcomes and also institutional priorities.  This document was completed in July of 2020 and shared with the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.

Self-Study Design Intended Outcomes

  1. Demonstrate how the institution currently meets the Commission’s Standards for Accreditation and Requirements of Affiliation
  2. Demonstrate Drexel’s focus on continuous improvement in the attainment of the institution’s mission and its institutional priorities
  3. Assess the quality and effectiveness of assessment processes to identify challenges and opportunities and make recommendations for improvement.
  4. Engage the Drexel community in an inclusive and transparent self-appraisal process that actively and deliberately seeks to involve members from all areas of the institutional community

Drexel 2030: Designing the Future

Concurrent to the self-study process, Drexel has developed a new strategic plan entitled Drexel 2030: Designing the Future that launched in December of 2020.  The university is now well on its way to implement the strategies of the new plan that includes a new mission and vision that will guide faculty, staff and students into the future.  This process began with a Pre-Planning Committee which was tasked with studying topics from the 2012-2019 strategic plan in order to gather resources to prepare for the development of the new plan.  The Executive Planning Committee (EPC) set out to “prioritize from among the recommendations emerging from the preplanning process, as well as from other planning efforts underway or recently completed at the University, in the development of a coherent, achievable, and above all positively differentiating long term vision for Drexel.”  The EPC would be the representative body that developed, reviewed and shared the new strategic plan.   To learn more about this process, please visit the Drexel Strategic Plan website.

The Institutional Priorities from the Self Study Design stem from early working priorities before the plan was finalized.  They are now a part of the finalized Drexel 2030 imperatives shown below.
