Town Hall III: Research and Practice in Technology-Enhanced Teaching and Learning

During the Online Learning Council’s third Town Hall of the year, attendees enjoyed presentations from faculty and staff, who discussed insights from their research in technology-enhanced teaching and learning.

Presentations were as follows: 

Immersive Media (VR) Content Creation for Distributed Online Learning
Nick Jushchyshyn – Westphal College of Media Arts & Design
Jushchyshyn, director of the Animation, Visual Effects & Immersive Media program, provides an overview of current immersive virtual reality content creation workflows, as well as inexpensive playback technologies with “on-your-doorstep-tomorrow” availability for online faculty and students.

Drexel University’s Global Classroom Program

Dana D’Angelo – LeBow College of Business
Adam Zahn – Office of International Programs
D’Angelo, a clinical professor in LeBow, and Zahn, associate director of global engagement, discuss Drexel’s Global Classroom program, including its COIL (collaborative online international learning) experience, its goals and impact for students and faculty, and how it has helped develop global communities.

From ‘Required’ to Dynamic: Innovative Strategies to Transform Discussion Boards
Kristen Betts, EdD – School of Education
Dr. Betts, a clinical professor in the School of Education, examines the online classroom staple, the discussion board, and explores how it can be used to create a more dynamic learning experience for online students.
