Advancements in technology are greatly informing what we know about the human brain and expanding the ways in which we can engage students across all educational modalities. Concurrently, research in Mind, Brain & Education science is changing what we know about teaching and learning in regards to the human brain. Research from an international study that examined the prevalence of neuromyths in higher education and higher education pedagogy will be shared. This presentation will also discuss the importance of online pedagogy and online instructional design as ways to engage learners when a small percentage to an entire course is offered online. The presentation will share MBE strategies to engage students in active learning through scaffolded assignments and technology. Several demos of activities and assignments will also be shared. Participants will leave with an understanding of how MBE strategies, metacognition, neuroplasticity, and online instructional design can transform how we teach and support real-world transfer across educational formats.
