HTML Guidelines

Unlike print media, web content has technical considerations and must be marked up properly. HTML (hypertext markup language) is the standard method used to create web pages and has semantic rules for structuring and presenting text and images. This expands beyond most users' experience of interacting with websites in a visual context: web browsers also use markup elements to present web pages as audible content for users who may be visually impaired and using a screen reader. Correct markup also impacts search engine optimization rankings and provide an overall better user experience.
