Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)

On November 22, 2016, a federal court judge issued a nationwide preliminary injunction that temporarily blocks the Department of Labor (DOL) from implementing the changes to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) that were set to take effect on December 1, 2016. Essentially, this means that the changes are not going into effect until there is further court action.

In the face of this uncertainty, and to ensure that Drexel is able to comply with laws that govern how employees are paid under the FLSA, Drexel has revised some of its previously communicated plans to comply with the proposed FLSA regulations. We will continue to honor the commitment to salary increases that will meet the proposed FLSA salary threshold regulation for exempt employees, effective Dec. 1, 2016. We will not move forward with the exemption status changes (exempt to non-exempt) until we get clear guidance from the court process and/or the DOL.

Thank you for your cooperation and support as we await further developments from the U.S. Department of Labor.
