Wellness Weekdays - Tasteful Tuesday: The MIND Diet

Tuesday, February 23, 2021

1:00 PM-2:00 PM

The Graduate College of Drexel University presents Wellness Weekdays, a series of workshops which focus on wellness of the mind, body, and spirit for graduate students and postdocs. These sessions offer an opportunity for graduate students and postdocs to take a break from their academic pursuits, learn something new and engage with peers, faculty, and professional staff across the University.

This Tasteful Tuesday offers an opportunity for attendees to learn about the general principles of the MIND Diet presented by Jonathan Deutsch, PhD, CHE, CRC, Professor in the Department of Food and Hospitality Management and Nutrition Sciences and Director of the Drexel Food Core Lab, as well as a certified hospitality educator, and Brandy-Joe Milliron, PhD, Associate Professor in the Nutrition Sciences Department and Co-Chair of the College of Nursing and Health Professions Academic Affairs Committee.

The MIND Diet is a strategy that can help individuals improve their dietary intake and maintain alert and focused thinking. The MIND diet is a combination of the Mediterranean and DASH diets and includes many nutrients that promote good brain health, possibly by reducing oxidative stress and inflammation. Attendees will learn how to identify healthy meals and create daily menus based on these recommendations.
