Thoughts about GES:
"There’s so much that we could learn and utilize from other nations, so I think my GES background could allow me to be frontrunner when it comes to researching global health policies and bringing back ideas to implement into our own system. In other words, this program will take me to the next level - anyone can work for the government, but someone with global experience can definitely bring something different and innovative to the table."

What skills do you feel you have acquired through involvement with the Global Engagement Scholars program that other students may not have?
"Being a GES has provided me with several invaluable skills. For starters, it’s helped me break out of my shell and meet people I normally never would’ve met. Since this program is open to nearly anyone, it’s very easy to meet someone outside my year and major who shares the same passion for global engagement as me. Also, by going abroad, I had to learn how to navigate and handle myself in a foreign country. As someone who rarely travels outside the country, it was daunting to think about going abroad on my own for the first time. However, I took comfort in the fact that the program taught me a lot about packing, transportation, language barriers, and cultural norms. I don’t think I would be who I am today without being a GES."
