Dragons Worldwide invites inbound exchange students, study abroad and international co-op alumni, as well as any globally minded dragon, to engage with Drexel’s international community.

Whether you’re studying abroad, have studied abroad, or are thinking of studying abroad, come hang!

    Dragons Worldwide Committee

    Perhaps you’d like to take on a leadership role in the Dragons Worldwide organization? The Dragons Worldwide Committee is a dedicated group of student leaders tasked with supporting inbound exchange students and fostering an international community open to all Drexel students. As a Dragons Worldwide Committee member, you will be required to maintain consistent communications with your assigned inbound exchange student(s), and facilitate programming throughout the term, Committee members are expected to serve for one term (Fall, Winter, and Spring).

    • Eligibility: Must have participated in a term or semester abroad, must be enrolled in an academic term while serving as a committee member.

    Responsibilities:

    • Maintain consistent communications with assigned inbound exchange students prior to their arrival and during their tenure at Drexel.
    • Pick-up exchange students at airport, or meet at 30th street station.
    • Meet exchange students at orientation, give them a tour of campus
    • Attend Welcome/Welcome Back Dinner, Education Abroad Speed-dating
    • Facilitate programming throughout the term, i.e. one on-campus event and one off-campus excursion
    • Notify your exchangers about opportunities for engagement in your college.
    • Engage all Dragons Worldwide members via email and BB learn updates.

         

        Spring 2019 Events

        What: Hands-On Tour: 20th Century Gay and Lesbian Lives at the Rosenbach
        When: Thursday, April 11 - Meet at 5:15pm. Event is from 6:30-7:30pm
        Where: Meet at the Dragon on 33rd and Market Streets to take public transportation together to the Rosenbach Museum at 2008 Delancey Place


        The Rosenbach dives deep into its collection of 20th-century queer writings and artwork at this hands-on tour. Featured on this tour: a love letter penned by Marlene Dietrich, illustrations by Jean Cocteau, an explicit poem in Isadora Duncan’s handwriting and more.

        What: Manayunk Streat Food Festival
        When: Sunday, April 14 - Meet at 12:00pm
        Where: Meet at the Dragon on 33rd and Market Streets to take public transportation together to Manayunk


        Manayunk Restaurant Week (April 15-26) begins with vendors and food trucks joining Main Street’s lineup of restaurants for an all-day eat fest known as the Manayunk StrEAT Food Festival. The festival features alfresco eats from more than 50 food vendors slinging burgers, tacos, pizza, cupcakes, waffles and more, rain or shine.

        What: African American History & Cultural Showcase
        When: APRIL 20th, 11am - 6pm
        Where: Pennsylvania Convention Center 12th & Arch St, Philadelphia


        FREE ADMISSION THE 2019 AFRICAN AMERICAN HISTORY & CULTURE SHOWCASE. The African American History and Culture Showcase (AAHCS) features a diverse mix of compelling, informative, inspirational, exhibits and activities that encourage interactive engagement. This includes private exhibits that have never been shown in museums, living legend history makers, documentary films, historical reenactments, panel discussions, lectures, workshops, visual artists and crafters, poetry readings, theatrical performances and historical musical concerts. The AAHCS provides an authentic, emotional and connective experience like no other.

        What: World Dragon Week Opening Ceremony
        When: April 22, 3-5pm
        Where: the Rec Center Lobby


        Let’s kick off a week of international exploration through discovering all the cultural diversity that exists right here on campus. Join us for pizza and a few rounds of human bingo on Monday, April 22 from 3-5pm in the Rec Center Lobby. All are welcome to stop by and see the world differently.         What: Phillies Baseball Game – Dollar Dog Night
        When: April 30 – Meet at the Dragon at 6:00, game starts at 7:05pm
        Where: Citizens Bank Park


        Batter up! Please submit $25 to the Office of Global Engagement and Education Abroad (Academic Building, Suite 201) by Wednesday, April 24 to attend the game with Dragons Worldwide.


        What: Multiple Sclerosis Society MS Walk
        When: Saturday, May 4th 5:00AM - 12:00PM
        Where: Philadelphia Museum of Art 2600 Benjamin Franklin Pkwy, Philadelphia, PA 19130


        Groups and individuals of all ages and abilities are invited to volunteer. We are always looking for youth clubs, corporate, and service-oriented community groups to lend a hand before, during, and after our events. When you decide to volunteer, you become part of the MS movement--a collective of passionate individuals, moving together to create a world free of MS.
