Peace Day Philly 2014
2014 marked the fourth official year of Peace Day Philly, a local effort to encourage Philadelphia participation in the United Nations International Day of Peace. During the week of September 15th to September 21st, various Philadelphia organizations and neighborhoods joined with
millions around the world in observing this important day. Universities, non-profits, faith
communities, and city offices such as Philly Rising, the Free Library and the Police department
offered over fifty programs that promoted peace and non-violence in the Philadelphia region.
The Office of International Programs, the College of Arts and Sciences, the International Area
Studies program, and the School of Education of Drexel University co-sponsored “The Right to
Peace, An Academic and Action Program” with the United Nations Association of Greater
Philadelphia and Peace Day Philly. Celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Declaration on the
Right of Peoples to Peace, all were welcome to come enjoy a lecture and discussion on human
rights and actions for the global, local, and personal rights to peace. See photos and learn more or go to the Peace Day Philly Facebook page.
