Role of the Center for Scholar Development

The Center for Scholar Development encourages students to apply for competitive awards and provides resources and support for putting together more competitive applications. We work most directly and intensively with those applying for our Core and Priority Awards, supporting students throughout the application process and coordinating with national scholarship and fellowship organizations to manage university endorsement processes.

We are often able to:

  1. Point students to resources that can help identify appropriate opportunities;
  2. Discuss the strength of your candidacy for a particular award;
  3. Offer workshops to help students prepare application essays;
  4. Review essay drafts and offer feedback via email, Skype, or in-person;
  5. Organize faculty committees for interview or nomination where needed.

We offer a range of useful resources, including:

  • Fellowships Databases
    Start researching your options using our searchable fellowships database, but don't stop there. There are a number of resources at Drexel and beyond that can help you find support for everything from undergraduate study to international research.
  • Fellowships Resource Site (Drexel login required)
     Visit our Fellowships Resource Site to access discipline-specific fellowships lists, presentation slides, recorded events and webinars, and additional resources for writing application essays, and more! Please note: site is for current Drexel students, faculty, and staff only.
  • Newsletter

  • Fellowships Advising and Support
    Fellowships 101: Attend an upcoming Fellowships 101 session to learn about fellowship opportunities and how our office can guide you along the way.See our events page for specific dates and locations. Attendance at a Fellowships 101 is a prerequisite for meeting with a Fellowships Advisor.
    Students who have already attended a Fellowships 101 or who are interested in applying for one of our Core or Priority Awards can request a more in-depth advising meeting by submitting a Fellowships Interest Form.
  • Sample Application Materials and Essays (Drexel login required)
    Our Drexel Fellowships Resource Site includes sample essays and materials from Drexel students who have received nationally-competitive and prestigious awards. These materials provide a sense of how other students have successfully navigated the challenges of fellowships essays.
