DAAD Research Internships for Science & Engineering (RISE) (declined), 2018
Drexel Fellowships Ambassador, 2018-20

BS/MS Electrical Engineering '21, Honors

Drexel faculty mentor: Emin Caglan Kumbur

Yigit become involved with research during his first week at Drexel in Dr. Kumbur’s Electrochemical Energy Systems Lab. He always knew that he was passionate about sustainable future and decided to work on alternative energy storage technologies once he came to college. He continued his research in the same lab for the STAR program during the summer of his freshman year. While he was working with Dr. Kumbur, he published a scientific article about novel flow field designs for flow-based batteries on Journal of Power Sources as a co-author. He presented his research at Drexel University as well as at the National Collegiate Research Conference, in Boston in 2018. He is a member of the Undergraduate Research Leaders and is still doing research with Dr. Kumbur. As an international student, he values cross-cultural experiences, which was his motivation to apply to DAAD RISE. After graduation, he plans to go to graduate school to elaborate on emerging energy storage technologies.
