Microbiology and Immunology PhD, 2013

I received my Bachelor of Arts in biology from LaSalle University in 2007. While at LaSalle, I was awarded a Bristol Myers-Squibb Fellowship and had the opportunity to work with Dr. Glenn Rall at the Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia. After graduating, I went on to work for an HHMI investigator at the University of Pennsylvania, where my project concerned purifying and studying a variety of vaccinia virus proteins. I am currently doing my thesis work back with Dr. Rall at Fox Chase. I am studying the innate immune response to viral infection in the central nervous system. Specifically, I am interested in how the neuronal response to type I interferon differs from that of other cell types.
