NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Honorable Mention, 2019

BS/MS Materials Science and Engineering '18, Honors

Drexel faculty mentor: Garritt Tucker

Gabriel completed his BS and MS degrees in Materials Science and Engineering at Drexel University in 2018, graduating with a 4.0 cumulative GPA. For his MS thesis, he studied the fundamental mechanical strength of two-dimensional MXenes, including the effects of point defects and chemical composition using atomistic modeling methods. He is now a Ph.D. student in the Computational Materials Science and Design (CMSD) group of Dr. Garritt Tucker at Colorado School of Mines. His current research focus is the development of atomistic models for two-dimensional and layered materials, with the goal of further understanding their fundamental deformation mechanisms.
