Getting More Involved Beyond serving as mentors and advocates for your own students, there are a number of ways interested faculty can help advance the work of the Center for Scholar Development at the University. Individual and Program Development The Center for Scholar Development staff is available to meet with individual faculty who would like to learn more and grow their expertise in student fellowships, as well as with departments or programs that would like their faculty or advisors to better understand the opportunities for their students. We also collaborate with program and school administrators interested in developing individualized strategic ways to advance this effort within their units and for their students. Rewarding Faculty Service Many faculty join us on nomination and interview committees, as readers of student essays, or for other opportunities to help mentor and develop Drexel’s highly motivated and high-achieving students. It reminds them, we often hear, why they wanted to become faculty in the first place. (You can read the perspective of an MIT colleague on doing this work here.) Let us know if you’re interested; we’d be happy to find a place for you that suits your interests and availability. We keep commitments small and appreciation high!
