Congrats to Mimi Liu, 2017 Gilman Scholar and Freeman-ASIA awardee to South Korea!

August 23, 2017

Mimi Liu (BS Accounting and Finance '20) has been awarded a Gilman International Scholarship and a Freeman-ASIA award to study abroad in South Korea. Huge congratulations, Mimi!

Mimi will be studying abroad at Hanyang University in South Korea in the fall of 2017. She started learning Korean in her sophomore year and has grown to admire the language, mannerisms, and fusion between traditional and modern day life. She is appreciative of the opportunity to experience living and learning in a new country and hopes to one day have a career that allows her to travel and help others.

The Freeman Awards for Study in Asia (Freeman-ASIA) provides grants of up to $7000 to support American undergraduates who are planning to study overseas in East or Southeast Asia. The program's goal is to increase the number of Americans with first-hand exposure to and understanding of Asia and its peoples and cultures. Since 2001, Freeman-ASIA has made study abroad in East and Southeast Asia possible for over 4,600 U.S. undergraduates from more than 600 institutions. The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program provides U.S. citizen undergraduate students financial support to pursue academic studies or credit-bearing, career-oriented internships abroad. Learn more about the Gilman Scholarship and read more about Drexel's other fall 2017 Gilman honorees.
