2014 Whitaker International Undergraduate Scholars

Biomedical Engineering students Emily Ballantyne (BS ’17, Honors) and Samantha Fox (BS ’17, Honors) received the prestigious Whitaker International Undergraduate Scholarship for research co-ops in Chile and Switzerland respectively. Congratulations!
Emily is headed to Pontificia Universidad Catolica in Santiago, Chile where she will be working on mathematical modeling of biological systems in the computational biomechanics and biophysics lab, taking classes, and honing her Spanish skills.
Sam will be conducting research at the Sensory-Motor Systems Lab at the University of Zurich in Switzerland. She will be working on their Active Knee Prosthetic Project helping to create smart prosthetics that mimic physiological behavior.
The Whitaker International Program provides funding for U.S. biomedical engineering (or bioengineering) students and graduates to study, conduct research, or intern abroad.
