Womxn in STEM Lightning Talks
Tuesday, March 2, 5-6 p.m.
As part of Pennoni's Womxn's Week, and Women's History Month, Undergraduate Research and Enrichment Programs is hosting Womxn in STEM Lightning Talks: a one-hour event of lightning talks by any student who identifies as a woman in a STEM field. Talks will feature personal experiences, shared advice, and inspirational womxn. Each presenter will have 3 minutes to present with space between each talk for questions.
Pennoni Panel: COVID-19 & the "She"cession

While the pandemic has forced many of us to reevaluate work and the structure of the economy, it has also caused us to reckon with women’s labor. The lack of access to childcare has set working mothers back decades, “pink collar” occupations were uprooted by protocols, and in December 2020, 140,000 women lost their jobs, the majority of whom were Black and Latina. What do we mean when we talk about women’s labor? How do we account for the divide between those who can work from home and those who cannot? Does working from home provide women more agency or does it overly blur the lines between work, home, and leisure time in ways that women are working more than ever? This discussion will unpack the ways in which COVID-19 has disrupted women’s labor for better and worse.
Being Latin-x: Women’s History Month

Please join Bienvenidos in Honor of Women's History Month while we watch and discuss TED Talks "My Identity Is My Superpower," held by America Ferrea, and "Latina Intellectuals," held by Dr. Michelle Maldonado from the University of Miami. We will discuss how our heritage has influenced how we identify and how we view ourselves in the professional workplace.
The Art of African Head Wrapping

Join Netfah Amina-Afia of Simply Netfah for an informative and experiential head wrapping workshop. Learn the HERstory and tradition of African head wrapping and the transformational power of adornment as Netfah guides you through several headwrap styling tutorials! Have a scarf/fabric approximately 22 x 72 inches to follow along.
HERstory: Operation Self Love, Self-Care, and Story Sharing
Wednesday, March 31, 12-1 p.m.
At this event, we will celebrate stories of military-affiliated women, learn more about their methods for self-care and self-love to help sustain and fortify them in challenging times. Participants will learn techniques to stay grounded, share stories and be inspired to greet each day with purpose and passion. Join our military-friendly campus community members as we celebrate the story of tenacious women who have served this country and continue to do so as veterans in their communities.
