Concentrations

The MS program offers the following concentrations in the following areas:

Construction Project Management: Construction organizations are challenged to meet ever-increasing owner demands, tighter project delivery times, and increasing regulation of building. Because of the highly competitive environment in which constructors operate, their organizations require excellent project managers to navigate through many daily challenges. The market demand is high for leaders who can effectively manage risk while traversing through the technical, economic, and regulatory environment. The MS in Construction Management with a concentration in Construction Project Management is an attractive credential to employers looking to hire leaders to bridge this skills gap.

Real Estate: The Real Estate concentration is designed for those who wish to gain critical training in this lucrative industry. Students will explore the knowledge and skill sets required to create, maintain, and build environments for living, working, and entertainment purposes.  The program’s primary objective is to prepare professionals for entrepreneurial and managerial positions in the real estate industry.  Upon completion of the M.S. in Construction Management with a Real Estate concentration, you will be empowered by a unique perspective on the issues in the real estate development process and the industry as a whole.

Sustainability and Green Construction: The architectural, engineering, and construction community faces the daunting task of providing a built environment which is in harmony with the natural environment — meeting the current needs of society without jeopardizing the ability of future generations to meet their needs. Sustainable development means integrating the decision-making process across the project team, so that every decision is made with an eye to the greatest long-term benefits. Currently, in the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) green building rating system, the construction process represents a significant portion of the effort required to achieve high-performance building programs. This program is intended to explore these concepts in detail. The M.S. in Construction Management with a concentration in Sustainability and Green Construction consists of advanced study in subjects essential to developing highly competent practitioners.
